Liu Bolin

Liu Bolin is a Chinese performance artist and photographer known for using chameleon-like methods to immerse himself in environments, earning him the nickname “The Invisible Man.”

With the help of assistants, he often takes up to 10 painstaking hours painting his own body to match a portion of the chosen site, before photographing himself standing within the scene as he blends into the background.

“Disappearing is not the main point of my work," Liu has said.

“It's just the method I use to pass on a message. It's my way to convey all the anxiety I feel for human beings.” (“Liu Bolin”, n.d.).
